SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Many agri-businesses do not have sufficient systems in place for true sustainability.  We see this as a flaw and an opportunity.  At Blaker Brewing we seek out innovative ways to save resources and increase efficiency.  Our promise to the next generation is that we will strive to safeguard a prosperous present and future.  In short, sustainability makes you better.

WATER--The life of every farm and brewery

Water is the heart and soul of farming and brewing.  With most brewery processes water is used and discarded readily. At Blaker Brewing we collect every drop of 'waste' water resulting from our brewing process. This water goes through a sand trap, over a solids separator, and is pumped into a settling basin. This secondary water is used to irrigate 300 acres of corn and wheat.

SPENT GRAINS--From the mash tun to the feed bunk

No need for expensive transportation costs.

spent grains are fed right out the back door.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Cow #5488 was feeling poorly on April 14th at 10PM. Her rumination collar alerted us to this and we promptly gave her therapeutic treatment. The black line shows her improvement over the following few days.

This collar increases our chances for successful early intervention, lowers overall veterinary costs, and reduces the risk of antibiotic residue, a major safety concern for human health.
